# TERRITORIAL METROPOLITAN PLAN | Metropolitan City of Florence

From the Strategic to the Territorial Plan

The Metropolitan Territorial Plan (PTM) of the Metropolitan City of Florence is structured as a tool which, starting from the territorial contents of the Metropolitan Strategic Plan, proposes a “soft” transformation strategy to guide the metropolitan territory. The goal is to inaugurate a new way of conceiving ordinary territorial planning on a metropolitan scale, as a process of building coordinated, integrated and dynamic visions and governance actions; to this end, the PTM re-interpret the mandatory requirement and reformulate the prescriptive levels towards a flexible, agile and intelligent “framework plan”, in favor of a propulsive and complementary planning approach with respect to the policies of transformation and governance of the territories adopted by the Municipalities.

Post-Covid Metropolitan Strategies

Starting from the definition of metropolitan service platforms, introduced in the Territorial Plan of the Metropolitan City of Florence (PTM), arises the possibility of creating the first PTM able to propose a strategy for the post-pandemic future, offering proximity service solutions, in in line with the so-called Epidemic Prevention Area or the “15 minutes city”. The research intends to study new urban planning models capable of preparing the cities of the future to face potential new epidemic disasters, but at the same time contributing to improving the daily life of citizens under various aspects: distribution and accessibility of services, internal and external mobility systems, provision of green spaces, new ways of living in cities.
